Watch The Voice Season 4 Episode 11 The Knockouts, Part 1
Watch The Voice Season 4 Episode 11 The Knockouts, Part 1 The show features four celebrity artists who will put together teams of singers who they’ll coach and mentor throughout the competition. Week by week, individuals will be eliminated until each celebrity has only one person on their team left to compete for the title of “The Voice of America”, in a live finale. Unlike American Idols’ lengthy audition process, the celebrity mentors will select their team members via a blind audition, so they’ll only be able to hear their voices. The show will have three stages of competition – the blind audition, a battle phase, and the live performance shows. Viewers will take part in the show by casting votes to help determine the finalists, who are competing for the grand prize – a recording contract. I have seen a lot of positive feedback from people regarding this show (The Voice). Being a cynic, I decided to give it a try. I ended up getting disappointed. The concept behind the first part of the show (blind auditions) was very interesting. Not taking into account what the person looks like and judging solely by the sound of their voice is quite original. What threw me off was that the entire show was so staged. Although some of the contestants were absolutely great, the judges, host, and production team dragged it down by making everything seem theatrical. From the unnecessary build up to the overreacting judges and the host who seems to be running out of synonyms. Everything seemed to be, for the lack of a better term, fake. At least American Idol had Simon which added some hint of reality into it. TL;DR Numbers are good, whole execution is forced and hard to watch for more or less an hour.
